Alghero disability parking regulation stalled by municipal friction

In Alghero, the implementation of a new regulation for reserved disabled parking spaces has stalled despite official approval. Christian Mulas, a municipal councilor for the PSd’Az, has criticized the delay, describing the situation as “shameful.”

Although the regulation underwent an extensive institutional process—including commission work in March 2026 and final approval by the City Council in June 2026—practical application remains blocked. Mulas noted that several requests from citizens with significant disabilities remain unprocessed due to internal conflicts and friction within municipal offices and the municipal police.

He emphasized that the numbered and regulated parking spaces are not merely bureaucratic details but essential tools for the autonomy, safety, and dignity of people with disabilities and their families. Mulas urged that internal administrative disputes should not impede the rights of citizens.
