Alghero faces reduction in flight connections to Rome
Flight connections between Alghero and Rome are facing significant reductions starting October 1, according to current booking systems. Michele Pais, a local councilor, has raised concerns that the number of daily flights from Rome Fiumicino to Alghero will drop from four to three.
Of particular concern is the disappearance of the 10:00 PM evening flight. The reduction is expected to impact the mobility rights of Sardinian residents, specifically those traveling for work, study, or medical reasons who rely on late-evening returns to complete trips within a single day. Current regional regulations for territorial continuity emphasize the importance of early morning departures and late evening returns to accommodate medical emergencies.
Regarding the Alghero-Milan Linate route, ITA Airways is reportedly set to extend its service until October 24, 2026.
