Alghero hospital care at risk due to lack of medical coordination
Christian Mulas, president of the Health Commission, has raised alarms regarding hospital care in Alghero, citing a lack of coordination between the ASL and the AOU of Sassari. He emphasized the urgent need for a formal agreement to facilitate infectious disease consultations for both routine and emergency cases.
The issue was highlighted following a case involving a patient who underwent spinal surgery at the AOU of Sassari and was later transferred to the Marino Hospital in Alghero for rehabilitation. The patient developed a serious bacterial infection, arriving at the rehabilitation center with high fever and clinical concerns. The lack of a coordination agreement necessitated interventions from the ASL management to stabilize the patient, who required a three-day hospitalization in an infectious diseases department before returning to rehabilitation.
