Alghero hosts literary presentations by Giacomo Mameli and Gavino Angius
The Llibres Llibres literary series in Alghero will host two book presentations in August.
On August 19, journalist and writer Giacomo Mameli will present ‘Pedrito. Lamette a Caracas, fiori a Orgosolo’ at the Libreria Cyrano. The book follows the story of Pietro Demontis, a Sardinian emigrant who becomes a shoemaker in Venezuela during the dictatorship of General Pérez Jiménez. The narrative explores themes of emigration, political terror in Venezuela, and parallel events in Sardinia involving kidnapping and local mysteries.
On August 21, Gavino Angius will present ‘Ambizione e disincanto. Storie e ombre della Repubblica’ at the Scuola Sacro Cuore courtyard. The work offers a historical and political reflection on Italy from the end of World War II to the present day. It examines key moments such as the Resistance, the creation of the Constitution, the Cold War, and the evolution of Italian democracy, questioning the fulfillment of the Republic's founding ideals.
