Alghero launches new urban cleaning and hygiene plan

The municipality of Alghero has launched a new urban hygiene plan aimed at improving city cleanliness and decorum. The initiative includes enhanced cleaning services for streets, alleys, and drains, implemented through a new contract that is progressively coming into effect.

To ensure thorough cleaning, the city has implemented temporary changes to traffic and parking regulations, allowing operators to access road edges and areas typically occupied by vehicles. Mayor Raimondo Cacciotto stated that the plan is a response to the constant pressure caused by increasing tourist flows.

In addition to physical cleaning, the administration is focusing on combating irregular rentals and tax evasion regarding waste services to protect community resources. The strategy also includes increased maintenance of public spaces and the opening of the ‘Amici degli animali’ desk to support responsible pet ownership.
