Alghero officials call for more pink parking spaces
Local political representatives in Alghero are calling for an increase in 'pink parking spaces'—designated spots for pregnant women and parents with children under two years old. Councilman Massimiliano Fadda noted that the number of these spaces has remained stagnant at ten since their inauguration in 2018, which he argues is insufficient for a city of over 40,000 residents.
Issues raised include the improper use of these spots by unauthorized drivers. Because the spaces are currently designated as courtesy spots, municipal police have lacked the authority to issue sanctions. The group Prima Alghero is urging the municipal administration to expand these spaces to strategic locations such as schools, hospitals, and public offices, while also implementing clear regulations and standardized signage to ensure accessibility and respect for families.
