Alghero officials clash over Tennis Club construction delays
A political dispute has emerged in Alghero regarding delays in construction works at the Tennis Club Maria Pia. Members of the Forza Italia council group have accused sports facilities assessor Enrico Daga of mismanagement, claiming that the installation of the court cover was scheduled for completion by July 3 but has not yet commenced.
Opposition members argue that the administration failed to ensure the new structure would meet the technical requirements for Serie A competitions, noting that while CONI provided an opinion on the facility's integration, the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation (FITP) is responsible for technical homologation. They have questioned whether the municipality verified compatibility with federal standards before awarding the works.
In response, Enrico Daga has rejected the accusations, describing them as disinformation. He provided documentation stating that the project was formally submitted to the FITP Sardegna Regional Committee on December 27, 2024, and that a service conference concluded positively on January 28, 2025. Daga clarified that the tender process for selecting a contractor only began in June 2025.
