Alghero Open Futures 2026 wheelchair tennis tournament begins

The Alghero Open Futures 2026 International Wheelchair Tennis Federation tournament has commenced at the Tennis Club Alghero in Italy. The event features prominent international competitors across singles and doubles categories.

In the men's singles, top seed Mohamad Yusshazwan Yusoff of the United States has advanced to the quarterfinals. Italian player Fabian Mazzei secured a significant victory by defeating the fourth seed, Anto Joskic of Croatia, with a score of 6-0, 6-3. Mazzei is set to face Yusoff in a top-tier matchup.

The women's singles competition has seen strong performances from Italian athletes, with three players—Vanessa Ricci, Maria Vietti, and Marianna Lauro—advancing to the semifinals. This ensures at least one Italian finalist in the women's bracket.

Additionally, the tournament marks the competitive return of Alberto Corradi, a former Italian number one in the Quad category, in the doubles event.
