Alghero opposition disputes Villa Maria Pia usage
Political opposition groups in Alghero, including Fratelli d’Italia, Forza Italia, UdC, Lega, Prima Alghero, and Riformatori Sardi, have raised concerns regarding the use of Villa Maria Pia. The controversy centers on whether the property is being utilized in accordance with local regulations.
Opposition members point to a contradiction between different administrative acts. They note that while one resolution cited Article 28—which prohibits the use of such assets for institutional purposes—a subsequent resolution by the Cacciotto administration designated the villa as the seat for the council chamber, representative hall, and the Presidency of the Council. Furthermore, they highlight that a contract signed shortly after referenced Article 34 regarding available patrimonial assets, creating confusion over the property's legal status.
The majority council has argued that distinct spaces within the building were used, but opposition groups have challenged this, requesting administrative proof of any functional separation of the communicating wings of the property.
