Alghero police deploy body cameras to enhance urban security

The Alghero Local Police have introduced Action 4 model body cameras to enhance urban security. These wearable devices are intended for use during interventions involving specific dangers or threats, aiming to provide greater protection for both officers and citizens. Recorded footage will be stored in compliance with current regulations.

This technological upgrade is part of a broader reinforcement plan initiated by Mayor Raimondo Cacciotto’s administration. Over the past two years, the city has invested in personnel through new permanent and seasonal hires, updated uniforms, and a modernized fleet including cars, motorcycles, and electric bicycles.

To manage the city's high tourism volume—which exceeded 1.8 million visits in 2025—the administration has also implemented a mobile police station for high-traffic areas and a night service project that extends patrols until 4:00 AM during summer weekends. Additionally, the ‘Progetto Decoro’ utilizes dedicated agents to monitor the historic center for urban security, environmental protection, and compliance with local regulations.
