Alghero rugby field dispute remains unresolved

A dispute regarding the legal possession of a public rugby field in Alghero remains unresolved following a recent meeting between officials from Amatori Rugby and Alguer Rugby. Local councilors from Forza Italia have stated that the issue has evolved from a simple disagreement between sports clubs into a significant administrative problem.

According to municipal deliberations from November 2025, the city administration has certified that the rugby field is ‘currently held without title.’ This status requires a formal clarification of property relationships and adherence to regulations for managing public sports facilities before any new temporary or permanent assignments can be made.

During a meeting on September 10, Amatori Rugby expressed willingness to allow Alguer Rugby to use the field exclusively for official matches, while Alguer Rugby requested a formal schedule from the municipality. However, a municipal official noted that a new schedule cannot be autonomously established because doing so would require modifying previous administrative acts and determinations.
