Alghero school selected for national innovation festival

The Istituto Comprensivo 1 di Alghero has been selected to present at the VI edition of the Festival dell’Innovazione Scolastica in Valdobbiadene, taking place from September 4 to 6. This marks the first time a Sardinian school has been chosen for the prestigious “Esperienza didattica innovativa di eccellenza” (Innovative Educational Experience of Excellence) category.

The school's project, titled “Sagome in gioco: l’Intelligenza Artificiale come amplificatore della cultura locale” (Shapes in Play: Artificial Intelligence as an Amplifier of Local Culture), utilizes AI to preserve and promote the Algherese language. Developed by primary school students at the Sacro Cuore complex, the initiative aims to prevent the loss of local linguistic heritage by using modern technology to engage younger generations.

The project was born from a student inquiry regarding how to encourage more children to speak Algherese. By acting as digital creators, the students use AI as a bridge to connect historical roots with future technologies, ensuring the city's cultural identity remains accessible and vibrant.
