Alghero to invest 150,000 euros in Maria Pia and Fertilia pine forests

The Municipality of Alghero has approved a project to invest nearly 150,000 euros into the maintenance and protection of the Maria Pia and Fertilia pine forests. The funding is provided by the Sardinia Region for the 2025 and 2026 fiscal years, with allocations of 73,100 euros and 76,805.71 euros respectively.

Planned interventions include selective thinning, stability checks for trees, removal of dangerous or dead branches, undergrowth cleaning, and the reduction of excess vegetation to prevent wildfires. The project also aims to manage waste disposal and control invasive plant species to ensure the forests remain safe and sustainable for residents and visitors.
