Algodonera Avellaneda bankruptcy: Court opens registration for asset buyers
Judge Fabián Lorenzini has opened a registration process for potential buyers interested in the assets and industrial establishments of the bankrupt textile company Algodonera Avellaneda S.A. The pre-registration period is set to remain open until November 11, 2026.
The company, which is linked to the Vicentin family, faces financial debts exceeding US$260 million, with Banco Nación serving as its primary creditor. The court aims to identify investors for productive units within the cotton chain, including fiber, yarn, and fabric production.
Additionally, the court is seeking offers for a company building located in Buenos Aires. While previous valuations varied between US$3 million and US$4.3 million, a prior attempt to sell the property for US$1.9 million failed to attract concrete bidders. The judge noted the “extremely grave situation” regarding the economic and social vulnerability of the workers' families and emphasized the need to preserve asset value to attract investors while addressing labor indemnities and salaries.
