Spanish municipalities roll out extensive urban improvement projects

Municipal authorities across Spain have launched a series of public‑works initiatives aimed at enhancing safety, mobility and urban quality.

In Alguazas, the town council completed a large‑scale cleaning of abandoned solar plots, citing reduced fire risk and improved neighbourhood appearance. Cuenca’s city council approved a redesign of Calle Carretería, preserving the historic Jardín de la Hispanidad while upgrading lighting and pedestrian facilities.

The city of Terrassa accelerated works on Carrer d'Arquimedes, opening multiple work fronts to shorten the summer construction period and modernise underground utilities. Jerez and Sevilla have both finished extensive re‑asphalting campaigns on major streets, improving road surface quality and traffic safety.

Valencia’s Gran Via Marqués del Túria has been resurfaced with noise‑absorbing asphalt, a first in more than three decades, reducing traffic noise and CO₂ emissions. In Alhendín, the town council and local businesses revived the Alín industrial park, securing new electricity supply and attracting firms to the site.

These coordinated projects reflect a broader push by Spanish local governments to upgrade infrastructure, enhance public safety and support economic development.
