Algund awarded South Tyrol Sustainability Label Level 2

The village of Algund has been awarded the South Tyrol Sustainability Label Level 2. This certification, granted by IDM South Tyrol following an extensive audit by the independent certification body Green Destinations, recognizes the village's commitment to responsible tourism development.

The evaluation covered ecological, social, cultural, and economic aspects of tourism based on the South Tyrol Tourism sustainability standard, which is recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). Achieving Level 2 signifies the increasing integration of sustainability criteria into the region's tourism planning.

Key initiatives driving this achievement include the organization of the Algund Autumn Markets as ‘GreenEvents,’ which focus on regional and organic products, plastic waste reduction, and climate-friendly mobility. Additionally, the local tourism association emphasizes the preservation of the traditional cultural landscape through regular maintenance of hiking trails and planned visitor management strategies.
