Alhaji Timothy Musa Kabba calls for stronger Africa-Russia partnerships
Sierra Leonean Presidential Adviser Alhaji Timothy Musa Kabba has called for strengthened partnerships between Africa and Russia, emphasizing the need for cooperation based on mutual respect and shared interests. Speaking at the Second Russian African Raw Materials Dialogue held at Empress Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University, Kabba argued that African nations must secure reliable allies to unlock resource potential and drive development.
Kabba highlighted that possessing natural resources alone does not ensure prosperity. He urged African governments to prioritize investments in human capital, technical expertise, and modern technology to ensure local workers and businesses can lead national industrial development.
Reflecting on his own career, Kabba noted how Russian education enabled his transition from a child conscripted during Sierra Leone’s civil war to a petroleum engineer for Lukoil Overseas. He has since held several senior roles in the Sierra Leonean government, including Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
