Spanish regional governments invest in public infrastructure and services
Various regional governments in Spain are implementing significant infrastructure and service improvements. In Granada, the Junta de Andalucía is investing over 10 million euros to upgrade 66 educational centers through 71 distinct construction and renovation projects.
In the Madrid region, the Community of Madrid has allocated approximately 2 million euros to renovate the main squares of ten municipalities, focusing on accessibility, urban aesthetics, and green spaces. Meanwhile, in Cantabria, the regional government is funding a 2.8 million euro urban transformation project for the Cros de Camargo area to improve mobility and safety.
Other regional initiatives include the Diputación de Cuenca's investment in new padel courts in Fuentes and Villalba de la Sierra, and the Diputación de Almería's funding for sports facility modernizations, such as the Alcolea sports pavilion. In Andalusia, the government is expanding its waste management network, having promoted 35 new recycling centers since 2019 as part of the PIRec 2030 plan. Additionally, in Ferrol, local authorities have approved over 435,000 euros for improvements to the Santa Mariña sports pavilion and the Casa del Deporte. In Vigo, a 622,800 euro project is set to enhance the Alcabre beaches through improved accessibility and natural area recovery.
