Alhambra and Generalife Launch Water Heritage Exhibit in Granada
Patricia del Pozo, the regional minister of Culture, Heritage and Sport and president of the Alhambra‑Generalife Board, and Granada mayor Marifrán Carazo signed a collaboration agreement with water utilities Hidraliá and Emasagra to create the exhibition “Granada: Milagro del Agua”. The exhibit, to be housed in the Biometrópolis building on San Matías 11 while it is refurbished, will display the historic acequias, pools and distribution systems that supplied the Nazari monument and shaped the city’s landscape, culture and social life.
Del Pozo emphasized that “water is the spine of the history, culture and life of Granada,” while Carazo added that “Granada cannot be understood without water.” The project supports the city’s bid for the European Capital of Culture 2031 and aims to bring the hydraulic legacy of the Alhambra to residents and visitors through an innovative, educational presentation.
