Alhambra police seize 200 kilos of cocaine during traffic stop

A routine traffic stop in Alhambra, California, resulted in a major drug seizure after a police K9 detected narcotics inside an SUV. The Alhambra Police Department reported that K9 Otis sniffed out approximately 200 kilograms (about 440 pounds) of cocaine concealed within numerous cardboard boxes.

The driver, identified as Julio Rangel of Huntington Park, reportedly provided conflicting explanations to officers regarding the contents of the vehicle. Rangel initially claimed he was returning home from a relative's house and that the boxes were not his, before later stating he was transporting diesel parts to a friend's shop. The seizure occurred near Valley Boulevard and the 710 Freeway.
