Alhendín adds police officer, targets eight officers by 2027

The municipality of Alhendín in Granada, Spain, has increased its local police staff by hiring an additional officer, bringing the force to seven members, with another recruitment process underway to reach eight officers by early 2027. The new officer is joining in a practicum period until the end of the year before taking a permanent post. Mayor Jorge Sánchez Hernández, councilor Mariano del Río and police official Alberto Jáimez attended the welcome ceremony.

The expansion allows more night shifts and improves response to resident demands. The council also notes that Alhendín already operates 30 traffic cameras, with ten more planned, plus two red‑light cameras, and has run campaigns on e‑scooter regulations in cooperation with the national traffic authority.
