Ali Ahmeti details UDB infiltration and 1985 arrest
Ali Ahmeti has shared details regarding his political activism and experiences with the UDB during the 1980s. In an interview with Ermal Panduri for the series ‘Dosjet’ on Debat Plus, Ahmeti discussed the infiltration of student groups and protest organizers by security structures.
Ahmeti identified Xhevat Kasrati as an individual who had been discovered to be an informant within their group following the 1981 demonstrations. He noted that the presence of informants, such as Kasrati, allowed security forces to gain advance knowledge of student meetings, specifically citing an instance involving Selim Brosha who appeared to have prior knowledge of a meeting at the Faculty of Economics.
Regarding his own arrest in 1985, Ahmeti described being detained by special police units while attempting to regroup with his associates. He recounted being held in a basement for approximately one week and subsequently transferred to prisons in Pristina and Smrekonicë. Ahmeti alleged that detainees, including many young students, were subjected to torture and mistreatment by officials, specifically naming Jakup Hotin as the individual who carried out the arrest.
