Ali Asgari’s ‘A Bit of Light’ premieres at Venice Film Festival

The Iranian film ‘A Bit of Light’, directed by Ali Asgari, was presented at the Venice Film Festival. The drama follows a doctor who, after having his medical license revoked for political reasons, plans to take his own life but finds reasons to continue living during a final day spent with his family.

Filmed in Tehran and Turkey, the production faced challenges due to regional conflict, eventually requiring relocation to Turkey for certain scenes. The creators described the film as a reflection of a society experiencing exhaustion and numbness due to political repression and ongoing regional tensions. Director Ali Asgari noted that the film focuses on small acts of resistance and survival in contemporary Iran.
