Ali G: Who Iz I? to stream on Prime Video after limited theatrical run

Sacha Baron Cohen’s directorial debut, ‘Ali G: Who Iz I?’, is scheduled to begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video on October 28. This follows a highly restricted theatrical release that spanned only one weekend and was limited to 23 theaters, a significant reduction from initial reports suggesting over 1,000 screens.

The film’s rollout faced challenges, including a 48% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and criticism in the UK, where some labeled the character an outdated caricature. Amazon/MGM has not commented on whether these factors influenced the decision to move the film quickly to streaming.

During the film's promotion, Cohen appeared in character at a premiere in Los Angeles, where he engaged in a comedic confrontation with Oasis co-founder Noel Gallagher, jokingly accusing him of occupying his seat.
