Ali Haydar Haksal, prominent Turkish writer and editor, dies at 75

Turkish writer and editor Ali Haydar Haksal has passed away in Istanbul at the age of 75. Haksal had been undergoing treatment for health issues prior to his death.

A prominent figure in Turkish literature, Haksal served as the Editor-in-Chief of Yedi İklim magazine, which he co-founded in 1987, and was a long-time columnist for Milli Gazete. His literary work spanned various genres, including short stories, novels, essays, and research. His writing often explored themes of modern loneliness, alienation, and the relationship between tradition and spirituality.

Haksal received several accolades throughout his career, including the Turkey Writers Union (TYB) Story Award and the Ömer Seyfettin Story Award. His funeral service is scheduled to take place at Şakirin Mosque in Üsküdar, followed by burial at Karacaahmet Cemetery.
