Ali Modu Sheriff stirs controversy over Peter Obi’s party switching and alleged Boko Haram links

Former Borno State Governor Ali Modu Sheriff said former presidential candidate Peter Obi is likely to change parties again if he does not secure a presidential ticket, linking the moves to Obi’s ambition. Sheriff made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television and stressed that leaders should prioritize national unity over regional interests.

Former presidential aide Naja’atu Mohammed revived accusations that Sheriff was involved in the early creation of Boko Haram, claiming the insurgent group was used for political purposes during his governorship. Sheriff has repeatedly denied any connection to the terrorist organization, and no court has found him guilty of supporting or founding Boko Haram.
