Ali Nasir Rizvi appointed NCCIA Director General

Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the former Inspector General of Islamabad Police, has been appointed as the Director General of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). Rizvi, who assumed his role as Islamabad Police chief in April 2024, will now lead the central body responsible for investigating digital crimes, including online fraud, harassment, and data breaches.

Captain (Retd.) Sohail Chaudhry will replace Rizvi as the new Islamabad Police chief. A former Pakistan Army captain, Chaudhry has a background in operational policing and counterterrorism, having previously held senior positions in Punjab, including roles in Lahore and Faisalabad.

The leadership transition occurs as the Islamabad Police prepares to implement an AI-enabled command and control system for enhanced surveillance. Additionally, the NCCIA is seeking to expand its operations, with reports indicating that 23 officers from the Islamabad Police may be deployed to bolster the cybercrime agency’s manpower.
