Alia Bhatt wears custom Kanjeevaram saree for Durga Puja

Actress Alia Bhatt celebrated Durga Puja in a custom ensemble designed by Mayyur Girotra. The look featured a handwoven pink Kanjeevaram silk saree paired with a turquoise blue puff-sleeved blouse.

The blouse included intricate 22-carat gold foil danka embroidery, a traditional craft from the Udaipur region of Rajasthan. The embroidery, performed by artisans in Jodhpur, depicted a crescent moon and lotus—symbols of Shiv and Shakti—on the back of the garment.

Styled by Priyanka Kapadia, the outfit drew comparisons from observers to the vintage aesthetic of the character Paro from the film Devdas. The designer noted that the use of gold was intended to convey auspiciousness and divinity while showcasing traditional Indian craftsmanship.
