Aliağa hosts Youth Workshop to promote local participation
The Aliağa Municipality Family Counseling Center hosted a Youth Workshop as part of the ACAR Project at the Aliağa Sports and Life Center. The event was designed to raise awareness regarding volunteering and to encourage active youth participation in local decision-making processes.
Moderated by Clinical Psychologist and UNICEF Youth Participation Consultant İrem Derya Çağlayan, the workshop was divided into two sessions. The morning session included 30 municipal employees, focusing on children's rights, adolescent participation, and the rights of youth to volunteer. Discussions centered on models that integrate youth perspectives into planning and implementation rather than just gathering opinions.
The afternoon session involved 16 university students in interactive workshops. Participants explored the meaning of volunteering, its individual and social contributions, and how to establish sustainable collaborations between youth, municipalities, and non-governmental organizations.
