AliançaBiodiesel supports ANP restriction on biodiesel sales

AliançaBiodiesel, an entity formed by APROBIO and ABIOVE, has expressed support for the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) decision to re-establish a 24-month ban on biodiesel sales between liquid fuel distributors.

The measure aims to combat “bionotas,” which are described as documentary operations that occur without the actual physical movement of biodiesel or its effective mixing into diesel A. Industry leaders stated that these practices create unfair competition, reduce market transparency, and compromise public tax collection.

Representatives from the sector noted that the restriction strengthens product traceability and provides the legal certainty and regulatory predictability necessary for the structured development of the industry. AliançaBiodiesel is advocating for this ban to become a permanent rule following regulatory impact analyses and public hearings.
