Alianza Lima addresses VIP box controversy following derby loss

Alianza Lima has issued a statement addressing a controversy involving Universitario de Deportes officials during a recent derby match at the Matute stadium. The dispute arose when Universitario representatives, including Franco Velazco, were unable to use the designated visitor's VIP box, spending much of the match in the dressing rooms instead.

Universitario officials alleged that the VIP area was in inadequate condition, citing issues such as a malfunctioning air conditioning system, windows that would not open, and a door that failed to close properly. They further claimed that the situation posed security risks, noting that a crime prevention prosecutor inspected the area and recorded observations in an official report. Alianza Lima responded by stating that they merely “executed the approved protocol” following security incidents between staff from both clubs.

On the pitch, Alianza Lima suffered a 2-1 defeat to Universitario. Following the loss, media commentary has called for the reintegration of winger Kevin Quevedo into the squad. Quevedo, who has been sidelined for several months, previously apologized to the technical staff for failing to meet physical requirements and has since been training with the team.
