Universitario defeats Alianza Lima 2-1 in Peruvian classic

Universitario de Deportes defeated Alianza Lima 2-1 in the Peruvian football classic held at the Alejandro Villanueva stadium for the ninth round of the 2026 Torneo Clausura. Alex Valera opened the scoring for Universitario in the 16th minute, but Alianza Lima managed to equalize in the 78th minute through Federico Girotti.

In the final moments of stoppage time (97th minute), a defensive error by Gianfranco Chávez and goalkeeper Alejandro Duarte allowed Lisandro Alzugaray to score the winning goal for Universitario.
