Alianza por Venezuela demands immediate presidential election date

The Alianza por Venezuela (AVE) coalition, composed of minority political and social organizations, has formally demanded that the ongoing political dialogue establish a “precise and upcoming” date for presidential elections.

Coordinator Noel Álvarez announced that the demand will be presented to Dinorah Figuera, the opposition representative at the negotiating table. The coalition accuses the interim administration led by Delcy Rodríguez of using stalling tactics to maintain power, which they claim undermines national sovereignty and worsens the country's economic crisis.

The demand follows the capture of former leader Nicolás Maduro by United States authorities nearly ten months ago. While Figuera has previously suggested elections could occur between late 2027 and early 2028, the AVE insists on a definitive schedule to ensure institutional renewal, including reforms to the National Electoral Council and the Supreme Tribunal of Justice.
