Universitario de Deportes hit by key player exit and coach Cúper's transfer concerns

Coach Héctor Cúper warned that Universitario de Deportes is not satisfied with the pace of its transfer market, saying the squad should have been completed earlier. He highlighted missing a foreign holding midfielder and a left‑back, and requested extra time to assess current players before approving new signings.

The club confirmed the departure of Ecuadorian winger José Carabalí, who is moving to LDU Quito for personal reasons despite a contract extension offer. Following his exit, Universitario is already scouting replacements, including Ecuadorian defender Gustavo Cortez, while still needing a midfield anchor as emphasized by Cúper.
