Alibaba Cloud, Cambricon, and Ant Group join PyTorch Foundation
During the PyTorch Conference China 2026 in Shanghai, the PyTorch Foundation announced the addition of three major Chinese technology firms to its membership. Alibaba Cloud and Cambricon joined as Platinum members, granting them seats on both the Governing Board and the Technical Advisory Council. Ant Group joined as a Gold member.
This expansion aims to strengthen the open-source AI ecosystem. The foundation noted that over 250 Chinese organizations currently contribute to PyTorch-related projects, including DeepSpeed and vLLM. The new members will influence the project's technical roadmap and resource allocation, focusing on areas such as large-scale model infrastructure, hardware-software co-optimization, and secure cloud-native runtimes for AI agents.
