Alibaba Cloud enters Gartner Leaders quadrant for strategic cloud services
Alibaba Cloud has entered the “Leaders” quadrant of the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Strategic Cloud Platform Services. It is the only Chinese and Asia-Pacific provider to achieve this distinction, joining global players such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft, Google, and Oracle.
The report highlights Alibaba Cloud’s strategic transition from traditional cloud infrastructure to an “AI Native and Agent Native Cloud” model. This evolution is supported by a full-stack AI capability spanning infrastructure, models, platforms, and applications. Key components include the proprietary Pingtouge Zhenwu AI chips, the Qwen open-source model family—which has surpassed 3 billion global downloads—and the Bailian large model service platform.
Gartner noted Alibaba Cloud’s competitive advantages in public cloud architecture, AI/ML capabilities, distributed cloud architecture, and security. The company is also expanding its global footprint, with infrastructure across 31 regions and 106 availability zones, serving markets in Europe, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.
