Alibaba Cloud expands global infrastructure and AI strategy

Alibaba Cloud has announced a major global infrastructure expansion and a strategic shift toward ‘Agent-Native Cloud’ architecture at the 2026 Apsara Conference. The company plans to establish its first cloud regions in Türkiye, Finland, and the Netherlands over the next 12 months. Additionally, it will expand its data center footprint in Malaysia, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, France, and Hong Kong to increase computing capacity and localized service delivery.

Technologically, Alibaba is moving beyond AI-native infrastructure toward a strategy focused on operationalizing intelligent agents at scale. This evolution involves a full-stack approach spanning chips, data, models, and agents. The company is introducing specialized tools such as Agent Sandbox, AgentCore, Agent Identity, and Agent Memory to support systems that can plan, act, and collaborate within enterprise operations. Alibaba has also entered collaborations with several global enterprises, including Panasonic Digital and Unity China, to accelerate innovation through these advanced AI and cloud technologies.
