Alibaba Cloud launches first South American cloud region in Brazil
Alibaba Cloud has officially launched its first cloud region in South America, located in Brazil. The deployment consists of two data centers providing computing, storage, networking, and database services to businesses, startups, developers, and public institutions.
This infrastructure aims to reduce latency and ensure local data residency, which is critical for sectors such as finance, e-commerce, and gaming. The company also plans to integrate agentic artificial intelligence tools, which are systems capable of performing tasks partially autonomously, to support its enterprise clients.
To execute this expansion, Alibaba Cloud has established partnerships with local Brazilian firms, including technology provider Insi and open-source software specialist 4Linux. This move is part of a broader global strategy that includes plans to open data centers in France and the Netherlands.
