Alibaba Cloud launches third South Korean data center

Alibaba Cloud has officially launched its third data center in South Korea, marking a significant expansion of its regional infrastructure. This new facility follows the opening of its second center just one year ago and is part of Alibaba Group’s broader $53 billion investment plan into AI and cloud services over the next three years.

Alongside the infrastructure expansion, Alibaba Cloud introduced six Agentic AI services in the South Korean market, including AgentRun and STAROps. These services are designed to support the development, deployment, operation, and security management of intelligent AI agents. The company is also collaborating with local firms such as MegazoneSoft and Team Sparta to provide customized industry solutions.

The expansion aims to meet the rising demand for cloud and AI services driven by digital transformation in sectors like gaming, e-commerce, and manufacturing. Alibaba Cloud’s Qwen model family has reached over 2 billion global downloads, and its infrastructure is being utilized by local entities, including Naver Z’s Zepeto for real-time 3D avatar generation.
