Alibaba unveils Qwen Book AI-powered laptop

Alibaba has unveiled the Qwen Book, an AI-powered personal computer designed to center around intelligent agents. Introduced at the 2026 Apsara Conference in Hangzhou, the device features a two-in-one design with a detachable keyboard that allows it to function as both a laptop and a tablet.

The hardware includes several AI-specific features, such as a dedicated “AI button” for quick assistant access and an “AI Island” status display located above the keyboard to track ongoing AI tasks. The device also comes with a voice-enabled stylus for direct interaction with the integrated AI assistant.

Running on the Omarchy operating system—developed with a $3 million investment from Alibaba Cloud—the Qwen Book integrates Alibaba’s Qwen large language models directly into the hardware and software layers. This “OS as Harness” approach is intended to allow AI agents to understand context and execute tasks across applications and cloud services seamlessly.
