Alibaba unveils Zhenwu V900 AI chip and global infrastructure expansion FAST-MOVING

Alibaba Group has announced significant advancements in its artificial intelligence infrastructure and hardware capabilities. During the Apsara Conference, the company unveiled the Zhenwu V900 AI accelerator, developed by its T-Head unit. The new chip is designed to offer three times the computing performance of the previous M890 model and is capable of supporting massive clusters of up to 500,000 units. Mass production for the Zhenwu V900 is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027.

In tandem with hardware developments, Alibaba is scaling its software and cloud capabilities. The company revealed plans to train a next-generation AI model featuring between 5 and 10 trillion parameters. To support this growth, Alibaba Cloud aims to expand its global data center capacity to exceed 20GW by 2032. This expansion includes plans to launch new cloud regions in Türkiye, Finland, and the Netherlands within the next 12 months, while increasing capacity in existing facilities across Germany, France, Malaysia, the UAE, and Hong Kong.
