Alican Uludağ trial adjourned until December 22
The trial of journalist Alican Uludağ continued at the Ankara 57th Criminal Court of First Instance. Uludağ faces charges including publicly insulting the President, spreading misleading information to the public, and publicly degrading judicial organs. Prosecutors are seeking a prison sentence of up to 19 years and 6 months.
During the hearing, Uludağ requested that the court investigate whether the Directorate of Communications' Disinformation Fight Center (DMM) had issued any official denials regarding his social media posts. He stated that while his own research showed no official refutations, he requested a formal determination from the authorities. Additionally, Uludağ noted that the complainant had not specified which of his 13 posts were the subject of the complaint and requested clarification.
Uludağ's legal counsel also requested the return of the defendant's phone, which had been seized by the Ankara Courthouse. Following statements from the parties and the prosecutor, the court decided to issue a writ to the Directorate of Communications and adjourned the case until December 22.
