Alicante and Xàtiva advance urban redevelopment projects

The three administrations that make up the Avant consortium – the Transport Ministry, the Generalitat Valenciana and the Alicante City Council – are finalising the detailed plan for the Parque Central area. The proposal places residential towers on the western edge of the site, near the PAU 1 (Juan Pablo II) and Ciudad de Asís neighbourhoods, freeing up space for a continuous green zone of up to 200,000 m². The scheme envisions about 1,400 homes, at least 40 % of them publicly protected, and a fully underground railway corridor that will link the main train station, a subterranean tram hub, a parking facility and a bus station, creating a multimodal transport node.

In Xàtiva, the municipal government has opened a new public car park on Sant Vicent street behind the cathedral. The facility provides 15 free spaces initially, with plans to convert them to resident‑only zones. The project also adds street lighting, artistic window interventions and swallow‑nest boxes, contributing to safety and biodiversity. It is part of a broader effort that has added dozens of parking spaces across the historic centre, improving accessibility and traffic flow.
