Alicante approves major renovation of Azorín Public Library

The Alicante City Council has granted the environmental and major works licenses required for the comprehensive renovation of the Azorín State Public Library, located on Paseíto de Ramiro. This authorization allows the central government to proceed with the bidding process for the project.

The renovation is estimated to cost 11,807,411 euros and is expected to take 30 months to complete. The works will involve the expansion, restructuring, consolidation, and full rehabilitation of the building, covering five floors, a semi-basement, and a basement.

The approval follows the completion of necessary documentation by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sport, including the adjudication of archaeological monitoring services. Local officials described the project as a high priority that has been long demanded by the community.
