Alicante castle walls to undergo rehabilitation

The Poniente wall of the Santa Bárbara Castle in Alicante will undergo rehabilitation following an agreement between the Alicante City Council and the Hortensia Herrero Foundation. This marks the foundation's first project of this nature outside of Valencia.

The restoration will be executed by the architecture firm ERRE, the same studio responsible for the design of the Roig Arena. The project aims to address the deterioration of the historic defensive structure, which includes an 11th-century Arab-origin upper section and a 13th-century Christian-era lower section located on Mount Benacantil.
