Alicante economic potential highlighted by Juanfran Pérez Llorca
Juanfran Pérez Llorca, President of the Generalitat, has called for increased state investment in Alicante to match its economic contribution. Speaking at the VI Spanish Economic Forum of Alicante, he noted that while the province is among Spain's top economic contributors and sees growing airport traffic, it has consistently lagged in state-level investments.
Pérez Llorca highlighted the province's potential in infrastructure and water reuse but criticized the stagnation of key projects, such as Vertido 0 in the Alicante Bay. He emphasized that the region requires resources commensurate with its industrial and entrepreneurial rigor to ensure continued growth.
In a separate regional initiative, the Generalitat Valenciana has launched the 'Bo Hostelería 2026'. This program provides up to 50 euros in vouchers for consumption in bars and restaurants to support businesses in municipalities affected by the 2024 DANA floods. The initiative, part of the 'Pla Endavant', has a budget of 3.9 million euros and aims to benefit over 78,000 people.
Additionally, Spain is preparing for the seasonal time change. On the night of October 24 to October 25, clocks will be set back one hour across the country, including the Canary Islands, to transition to winter time.
