Alicante eviction of woman and three children suspended until 2030
The eviction of a woman and her three minor children (aged 8, 15, and 17) from their home on Àgata Street in Alicante has been suspended until December 31, 2030. According to the Sindicat de Vivenda Carolines, the postponement is due to the implementation of a new housing decree designed to protect the social function of housing and expand affordable options.
The family has resided in the property since 2014. The housing was reportedly initially linked to a social rental through Banc Sabadell before passing to Promontoria, which is linked to the investment fund Cerberus. The eviction process began after the lease was not renewed.
The housing rights group also highlighted ongoing real estate activity in the area, noting that VR Property Alicante, commercially linked to VR Casas, continues to advertise a fourth-floor apartment on the same street as a ‘great bargain opportunity’ for 88,000 euros.
