Alicante firefighters conduct multiple mountain rescues
The Alicante Provincial Firefighters Consortium conducted several rescue operations across various mountain locations in the province of Alicante, Spain. The interventions involved multiple groups of hikers, including two children, who became lost, disoriented, or trapped in difficult terrain.
In Benidorm, a woman and her 8-year-old son were rescued from the Sierra Gelada after becoming lost in an area inaccessible to vehicles. They were evacuated by helicopter to San Vicente del Raspeig without injuries. In Elda, a 10-year-old boy became stuck on a steep section of Monte Bolón. Due to fading light, a ground team from the Elda fire station performed the rescue, assisting the child and his parents to safety.
Other successful operations included the rescue of two Dutch citizens in Polop de la Marina, who were found trapped on a cliffside in the Penyó Cavall area. Additionally, two hikers were located and rescued in the Montgó Natural Park near Dénia after they became disoriented and had been without food for several hours. All individuals involved in the various incidents were reported to be in good health and did not require medical assistance.
