Alicante government defends services on Nueva Tabarca

The Alicante City Council, led by the Partido Popular (PP), has defended its management of services on the island of Nueva Tabarca following complaints from residents. The local government is facing pressure from inhabitants who are seeking to establish themselves as a minor local entity.

Vice-mayor Manuel Villar stated that significant investments have been made in the island, including the purchase of land to ensure environmental protection. Addressing criticisms regarding waste management, Villar noted that a new contract includes specific provisions for the island. He asserted that waste collection occurs daily in both winter and summer, with increased frequency during the summer months, involving the transport of containers by boat to the mainland.

Additionally, the administration is coordinating with the Generalitat to improve transportation to the island and is finalizing the delimitation of mooring zones using ecological buoys to facilitate vessel docking.
