Alicante Hogueras festival organizers debate future and logistics

Organizers of the Hogueras de Alicante festival held the second edition of the Festa Congress to address challenges ahead of the event's centenary. Key discussions focused on improving festival management, enhancing accessibility, and streamlining administrative processes.

Proposals presented by the Federació de les Fogueres include creating a municipal equipment-loan pool for items such as wheelchair ramps and cable protectors to reduce individual committee costs. To simplify bureaucracy, organizers suggested implementing a single overarching report for street cleaning and evaluating public space usage based on specific environmental impacts.

Artisans and local sectors also raised concerns. Joaquín Rubio, head of the Artists' Guild, called for better protection for craftsmen facing rising costs and fixed budgets. Additionally, the provincial hotel association highlighted the need for improved coordination regarding security, cleanliness, and unregulated street vending to ensure better coexistence between the festival and the city.
